"ble," the first hurricane to have an official name, is barely mentioned in most histories of Atlantic hurricanes (giving hurricanes women's names began three years later in 1953; male names were included in 1979).

The overall damage it caused was considered relatively insignificant.

But in mid-August of 1950, Able slammed into Milford and caused extensive damage. My parents' house was almost destroyed.
