Harlem Hospital House Staff - December, 1930

My father, standing, second row, far left. His old Brotherhood Fellowship teammate, Monk Howard, who was a class ahead of him at Howard Medical School, is standing on the same row, two persons over to the right.

hat is perhaps, most noteworthy about this picture is not that the group is integrated, but that there are any blacks at all. Three, black medical interns broke the color barrier at Harlem Hospital just three years prior in 1927.
