What he bought, sight unseen, in the primary dwelling, was a house with enormous charm and character.

On sunny days, warm colors streamed into the house. The upper halves of nearly all the double-hung windows contained amber and yellow glass in symmetrical, diamond patterns. At night, hanging art-deco light fixtures with colored-glass panels, glowed from the living and dining room ceilings.
